PROJECT NARRATIVE
4,500-square-foot private residence on site at 9700’ elevation. The challenging site produced a unique layout and building form while honoring client desire for a more traditional mountain home aesthetic. The building invites natural light, with generous exterior doors opening to the wood terrace to provide indoor/outdoor experience. Finishes included interior and exterior square cut logs, stone, and copper roofing. Ash paneling and millwork and Australian Cedar flooring completed the interior palette.
Innovations
The typical “Log Home Package” was completely redesigned to reflect strong programmatic layout and proper scale. The building was constructed utilizing prefabricated foundation walls set on gravel footings. The log sensibility was balanced with frame construction to balance material consumption and aesthetics.
